Generally, Ayurvedic medicines are basically of the following types:
- Lehyam (Paste form or Jelly form)
- Gritham (Ghee based preparation)
- Churnam (Powder form)
- Guliga ( tablet equivalent form)
- Swarasam( Fresh herbal juice)
- Kashayam( Boiled decoction)
Each form of medicine has its own unique method of absorption, metabolism and action in the human body. The potency and the time taken for the absorption and metabolism can be different in different forms of the medicine. In the above forms of medicines, Swarasam and Churnam are not heat processed
Lehyam is the only form of medicine where all the above( Choornam, swarasam, kashayam, ghritham) can be combined as a single form of medicine. So a Lehyam has Churnam, Kashayam, swarasam , ghritham as its components. So lehyam will have a broader spectrum of action and benefits. Another advantage of Lehyam is that its processed in such a way that it is half metabolized and so absorbed in the human system with ease. Another important point to remember is that lehyam can have a higher concentration of phytonutrients in a stable form. Furthermore, majority of medicines which come under Anti aging and Aphrodisiacs or rejuvenation medicines are in Lehyam form in the classical texts of Ayurveda.
Vivaswath Pharma decided to bring out Sapthagen Forte in the Lehyam form to prove maximum benefit in each gm of the medicine.
